Did a Jar of Jam Really Cause Shakira and Gerard Piqué to Break Up?
Shakira is denying the rumor.
The Colombian pop star has officially dismissed speculation that her 11-year relationship with Gerard Piqué ended over a jar of jam.
In an interview published on March 16, the Sunday Times asked the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer if she found out about her partner’s infidelity through a jar of jam, to which Shakira simply replied, “Not true.”
Shakira and Gerard, who have children Milan (11) and Sasha (9), announced their separation in 2022, more than 10 years after they started dating in 2010. After their split, Shakira was questioned about a metaphor in her “Te Felicito” music video, where she discovers Rauw Alejandro‘s head in the fridge.
During an interview on This Morning regarding the song, Shakira explained that she opened the fridge in the music video to “find the truth.”
There were also reports claiming that Shakira discovered Gerard’s infidelity when she returned home from a press tour and noticed that her strawberry preserves, kept in the fridge, had been eaten.
