Selma Blair Reveals How Her Son Reacted After Watching Film Cruel Intentions For The First Time: ‘I Was Like…’

Selma Blair has appeared in various romantic comedies, including her iconic role in the 1999 film Cruel Intentions. In the movie, she played Cecile Caldwell opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar, who portrayed Kathryn Merteuil. Recently marking its 25th anniversary in March, Selma Blair shared her son Arthur’s reaction after watching the film for the first time.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, Selma Blair disclosed that her son Arthur Saint Bleck, whom she shares with her ex Jason Bleick, finally watched Cruel Intentions, a classic hit starring his mom. She mentioned that despite her previous efforts, he had never watched any of her films but made an exception for this one.

Blair recounted her conversation with her son, where he confessed to watching the movie with a girl, to which she jokingly said, “Oh dear, it’s a sexy movie.” She shared that he even imitated a bold gesture from the film, putting her in an amusing spot.

The actress expressed her fondness for the movie, stating that she never skips rewatching it and appreciating the timeless appeal it still holds. Selma Blair also praised the costume design and the entire cast of the film, calling it one of the most gorgeous movies.

Cruel Intentions, directed by Roger Kumble, is available for streaming on Prime Video. The movie offers a modern take on the classic novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and was a commercial success upon its release, grossing over $70 million globally.
