Selena Gomez Fires Back at Plastic Surgery Rumors
In 2014, Selena was diagnosed with lupus, an incurable autoimmune disorder that attacks tissues and organs. Symptoms, such as joint pain, are experienced during flares, or periods of increased disease activity, and can be managed with medications, many of which have side effects.
After undergoing a kidney transplant in 2017 due to her lupus, Selena has not disclosed the specific prescription drugs she takes for the disease. She reassured fans about her health on TikTok in January, explaining that she experiences shaking as a side effect of her lupus medication.
The singer of “Calm Down” has consistently promoted body positivity despite facing criticism about her appearance over the years.
In January, Selena shared on her Instagram Stories a reflection on body image alongside old and recent bikini photos, writing, “Today I realized I’ll never look like this again… I’m not perfect but I am proud to be who I am—sometimes I forget it’s ok to be me.”
