Robert Downey Jr. to reprise role as Doctor Doom
Marvel Studios announced the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Avengers franchise as Doctor Doom, post his retirement. Kevin Feige confirmed the Russo brothers as directors for the upcoming Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday at the San Diego Comic-Con panel.
Downey’s return as Victor von Doom has surprised Marvel fans, as they expected him to come back as Iron Man/Tony Stark. Downey initially set the MCU in motion with his role in 2008’s Iron Man and is now returning as the notorious Fantastic Four villain. “Same mask, new task,” Downey proclaimed from the stage to the audience.
Marvel has revamped the creative direction for Avengers 5, which was originally announced as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Jonathan Majors was set to play Kang, but after being found guilty of harassment and assault, Marvel has parted ways with him.

Dr. Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, is a prominent antagonist in the Marvel Universe. He primarily antagonizes the Fantastic Four, as well as Spider-Man and the Avengers.
