Savannah Chrisley responds to mother Julie’s overturned prison sentence
Savannah Chrisley has shared her thoughts on a recent development in her family’s legal dispute.
Following the reversal of her mother Julie Chrisley‘s prison sentence, the star of Growing Up Chrisley took to her Instagram Story on June 24 to express her joy. She posted a copy of the court’s decision and captioned it with “The fight never ends” along with a raised hands emoji.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided on June 21 to overturn Julie’s seven-year sentence for tax evasion and bank fraud. The appeals panel concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove her involvement in the bank fraud scheme before 2007, leading to a resentencing to account for crimes she was convicted of post-2007.
“The district court failed to provide the evidence used to hold Julie responsible for pre-2007 losses, which we could not locate independently in the records,” stated the judges in their ruling. “As a result, Julie’s sentence is vacated, and the case is remanded for the district court to determine the necessary facts and make the appropriate calculations for losses, restitution, and forfeiture before resentencing.”
