Bowen Yang hosts ‘Brat or Nat’ Talk Show to Celebrate Charli XCX’s Brat Summer Trend on Season 50 of Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live Season 50 began with a special tribute to Charli XCX in a comedic skit focused on this summer’s biggest trend. Bowen Yang portrayed the pop singer on a fictional talk show called The Talk Talk Show, inspired by one of her songs. The skit also featured Sarah Sherman, Jean Smart, Chloe Fineman, and Ego Nwodim.
In the skit, Yang brought in Sarah Sherman playing Troye Sivan, who joined Charli on the Sweat Tour. Sherman humorously showed fake abs, eliciting laughter. The talk show also included a game where they humorously categorized current events as either ‘Brat or Nat.’
After explaining the meaning of ‘brat,’ Yang introduced a game called “Brat or Nat,” where he labeled recent events and pop culture references accordingly. Examples included Hunter Biden’s laptop (brat) and Mark Robinson’s search history (nat).
Barron Trump’s decision to enroll at NYU was dubbed ‘brat,’ in contrast to the school which was categorized as ‘nat.’ Amy Adams’ character in Nightbitch was labeled ‘brat,’ while NYC Mayor Eric Adams was labeled as ‘nat.’

Ego Nwodim portrayed Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and shared her views on Matt Gaetz and JD Vance.
The skit was inspired by Charli XCX’s album Brat, which dominated both the summer and the music charts. Released on June 7, the album features hyperpop summer beats. Charli also made headlines for tweeting ‘Kamala is brat,’ showcasing her political stance.
Her notable moments include performances at Madison Square Garden with Troye Sivan, where Lorde and Addison Rae were special guests just before the premiere of Saturday Night Live Season 50.
