Salman Khan reveals Salim Khan’s wish for continued ‘dosti’ with Akhtars despite fallout with Javed: ‘Dono families ke beech kabhi…’ disclosed by Namrata Rao
Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, the iconic writing duo of their time, parted ways in 1982 after delivering more than 22 blockbusters together. However, they are now reuniting for a docu-series called Angry Young Men, based on their lives. Namrata Rao, the director of this project on Prime Video, recently shared in an interview with ANI how both families remained cordial despite their separation.
The National Award-winning director revealed, “Salim-Javed still maintain friendly relations. Salman Khan remembered how Salim Sahab advised his family to always maintain a relationship with the Akhtars, despite the split with Javed Akhtar. There has never been any bitterness between the two families.”
Namrata also praised Salim and Javed’s humor, calling them “interesting people.” She mentioned how she learned a lot from them during the making of the docu-series and how they always made everyone laugh on set. “There were times when we had to ask for silence on set because everyone would burst into laughter listening to their conversations,” Rao said.
Angry Young Men, releasing on August 20 on Prime Video, takes a nostalgic look back at the life and impact of the writer duo Salim-Javed, who introduced the concept of the Angry Young Man in Hindi cinema. Salim Khan reflected on his journey briefly, recalling how he started his career in front of the camera but eventually found his true passion in storytelling and writing. “Meeting Javed, who shared the same passion for writing, led to some fantastic collaborations that I am immensely proud of. Together, we challenged industry norms and achieved great success,” Khan shared.
Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media & Entertainment, and Tiger Baby, with executive producers Salma Khan, Salman Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, Angry Young Men is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 20th.
