Sadie Sink Opens Up About Not Experiencing Love Before Starring in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well as a Woman in a Toxic Relationship
Sadie Sink had no experience with love, heartbreak, and all that jazz when she starred in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film two years ago.
In a recent interview with Variety, the 22-year-old actress opened up about her role in the Grammy Award-winning music video, playing a 20-year-old girl in a toxic relationship with an older man, portrayed by Dylan O’Brien. The video is believed to depict the relationship between Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal, who were 20 and 29 respectively when they were together.
“At that time, I had never been in love,” the Stranger Things star revealed about her experience on the project. “I had never gone through a breakup that intense. It was all new to me.”
Sink also shared that she drew from her years of being a Swiftie to embody her character in the short film, which was released in 2021 to accompany the 10-minute version of the song on Swift’s re-recording of Red. She mentioned that the song now brings back a deep sense of nostalgia that she can physically feel.

Last month, in an interview with Bustle, Sink reminisced about when she was first offered the role. “It was quite confusing at first because I never imagined myself as someone who would even get to her level,” she said, followed by, “But I grew up listening to her music and was a huge fan.”
Sink also reflected on filming the kitchen argument scene with her co-star, recalling it was spontaneous and she doesn’t remember what either of them said during the scene. She thought it would be a visual representation of Swift’s lyrics, but it turned out raw in the final edit.
Sink’s next project is the upcoming rock opera O’Dessa, where she plays a farm girl on a quest to retrieve a family heirloom, according to Deadline.
Meanwhile, Swift is currently touring Europe for her successful Eras Tour. She is expected to release re-recordings of Reputation and her self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift, soon.
