Sabrina Carpenter Stuns Shania Twain with Her Cover Tribute of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” at Short n’ Sweet Tour
During the People’s Choice Country Awards 2024, Shania Twain expressed her admiration for Sabrina Carpenter, who is currently on tour promoting her latest album Short n’ Sweet. The Espresso singer performed a cover of Twain’s hit song “That Don’t Impress Me Much” during her tour stop in Toronto, Canada.
Twain was thrilled by Carpenter’s rendition of her song and even shared a clip of it on her Instagram Stories. Speaking with E! News at the People’s Choice Country Awards 2024 red carpet event, Twain described Carpenter’s cover as a great compliment.
Twain praised Carpenter as “genuinely talented” and “smart,” emphasizing how flattering it was to hear the young pop star’s take on her popular song. She called it a huge compliment and expressed her admiration for Carpenter’s talent.
Carpenter’s cover was a highlight of the show, part of a “wheel of fortune” segment where she randomly covered a song. Given Twain’s Ontario roots, the tribute added a special depth to the event.
Twain was not only there to praise fellow artists at the People’s Choice Country Awards 2024; she was also hosting the event. Her Shania Twain: Come On Over—The Las Vegas Residency- All The Hits! received a nomination in the 2024 concert tour category.
This year’s top nominee was Zach Bryan with 19 nominations, followed by Beyoncé with 17. Twain shared with Billboard that hosting the award show was a full-circle moment for her, taking her back to her beginnings in Nashville as a new recording artist. She enjoyed meeting new artists and old colleagues and promoting country music in a dedicated space.
