Ryan Reynolds Opens Up About How His Father’s Health Struggle Impacted Their Relationship
Ryan Reynolds is reflecting on an important relationship in his life.
Almost a decade after his father, James Chester Reynolds, passed away at 74, Ryan, who has children James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, born in 2023 with Blake Lively, discussed their relationship and how his father’s battle with Parkinson’s disease impacted them.
“I have to start by saying that my father was not someone who expressed his emotions,” Ryan shared in an article for People published on August 14. “He was involved in my life, never missed a football game, but he struggled to feel, or at least show, a wide range of emotions. His pride influenced most of his actions.”
The 47-year-old, who was the youngest of four brothers and also the son of Tammy Reynolds, shared that his father’s inability to connect emotionally with him made it challenging for Ryan to fully comprehend his father during his Parkinson’s disease journey.
