Russell Crowe Criticizes Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web Comments
Russell Crowe is embroiled in a debate about Madame Web.
The Gladiator actor—who has appeared in both DC and Marvel films backed by Disney and Sony—recently discussed Dakota Johnson‘s remarks about Madame Web losing its artistic value because it felt like a product of collaboration.
“I don’t want to comment on what anyone else may have said or their experiences,” Russell said to GQ UK in an interview published on June 13. “But… You’re telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some universe for cartoon characters, and you didn’t find enough depth?”
He added, “It’s a huge operation, and they make movies on a large scale. These are jobs. You’re given a role, you play the role. If you’re expecting this to be a life-changing experience, I think you’re in it for the wrong reasons.”
While acknowledging the challenges of filming a CGI-heavy superhero movie, the 60-year-old did admit that the physical filming process comes with its own set of difficulties.
