Rehana Sultan, a National Award-winning actress known for her bold and impactful acting in the 70s, has been away from the Indian film industry for decades. Recently, she has been facing complications related to her heart. When her condition became serious, her brother reached out to the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) for help. Celebrities like Rohit Shetty, Ramesh Taurani, Javed Akhtar, and others came together to fund her treatment.
The president of IFTDA, Ashoke Pandit, shared the news about Rehana Sultan’s medical struggles. He mentioned that industry figures such as Rohit Shetty, Ramesh Taurani, Javed Akhtar, and others contributed towards her heart surgery by quickly providing financial support.
Pandit provided an update on her condition, stating that she underwent a valve replacement surgery with the support of the generous donations. While she is currently in the ICU, her recovery is progressing well under medical observation.
Rehana Sultan rose to fame with her debut film, Dastak, in 1970, for which she won the National Film Award for Best Actress. Despite a promising start, her career faced challenges as she was typecasted into similar roles. Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is busy with his upcoming project, Singham Again, starring a star-studded cast set to release this Diwali.
