The win concludes a successful award season for Downey Jr., who was also honored with a Golden Globe and a SAG Award earlier this year for his role as former United States Atomic Energy Commission chair Lewis Strauss. In each of his acceptance speeches, the actor has made sure to express his gratitude to his wife, whom he humorously refers to as his “primary caregiver.”

“She has truly mastered the art of pushing me out of my comfort zone,” he told the audience at the 2024 Golden Globes, adding, “but she’s easy on the eyes, so it’s all good.”

During the 2024 SAG Awards, Downey Jr. once again acknowledged Susan, the mother of his children Exton, 12, and Avri, 9, stating, “For the past 22 years, she has convincingly played the role of a sensible and grounded individual happily married to an actor.”
