Ozempic is no joking matter for comedian Chelsea Handler. Handler shared that her “anti-aging doctor” prescribed her the medication without fully understanding what it was.
“I didn’t even realize I was taking it,” she admitted during the Jan. 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy. “She said, ‘If you ever want to lose five pounds, this is a good option.”
Despite trying the medication, Handler mentioned that she didn’t enjoy the way it made her feel.
“After returning from a trip, I administered the injection,” she recounted. “A few days later, I had lunch with a friend who mentioned feeling nauseous because of Ozempic. I then realized I was experiencing similar symptoms, but attributed it to jetlag from my trip to Spain.”
In the end, Handler decided to discontinue the use of the drug as it wasn’t necessary for her health. She admitted to giving away the leftover doses to friends.
“I ended up injecting four or five friends with Ozempic because I didn’t want to use it myself since it was unnecessary,” she said. “It’s intended for individuals struggling with weight. I even scheduled friend meetings around medication times.”
