Actress Rhea Chakraborty, known for her role in Mere Dad Ki Maruti, was once again in the spotlight for her alleged involvement in a scam. Along with other celebrities like comedian Bharti Singh and YouTuber Elvish Yadav, she was questioned regarding the HiBox mobile app. This action was taken after receiving numerous complaints from people who claimed to have been scammed by the app they had invested money in. Users reportedly invested in the app after watching promotional videos from their favorite social media influencers and YouTubers.

The HiBox app, promoted by influential personalities, attracted investments with promises of high returns. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari, the app was part of a planned scam that promised daily returns of one to five percent, totaling 30% to 90% in a month. Over 30,000 individuals invested in the app.

The app initially paid high returns to investors after its launch in February, but started withholding payments from July due to technical glitches and legal issues. Several influencers, including Saurav Joshi, Abhishek Malhan, and others, have received legal notices. The main accused, Sivaram, has been arrested and Rs 18 crore has been seized from his accounts.
