Ranveer Singh’s Birthday: Deepika Padukone shares his peculiar request on the set of Bajirao Mastani directed by SLB
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone appeared in several movies together before getting married. One of their popular films was Bajirao Mastani, where they portrayed their strong love for each other.
During an interview with the media, the soon-to-be mother revealed that while working on the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Singh made a ‘strange request’ to the team. Recently, on his birthday, he discussed whether this request benefited him or not.
Ranveer Singh wanted everyone to call him ‘Bajirao’ on Bajirao Mastani sets
A few years back, Deepika Padukone shared with a publication that Ranveer Singh desired everyone to refer to him as Bajirao on the set of their 2015 movie Bajirao Mastani. Reflecting on an old interview, Ranveer talked about this unique request he made to the team.
In a 2015 interview with Rediff, the actor mentioned that although it was a “strange request, it actually helped.” He explained that getting into such a distinct character was a challenging process. Therefore, he altered his appearance, worked on his physique, and even adjusted his voice and accent.
Ranveer mentioned that he would spend about two hours getting ready once he arrived on set. He meticulously perfected the scars, eye makeup, earrings, and costume. “I even had a fake mustache at one point,” he shared.
Ranveer Singh would take two hours to transform into Bajirao
To prepare for his character, Ranveer would do vocal and physical exercises before filming. He mentioned that it usually took him 30 minutes to get ready for a role. However, transforming into Bajirao required a two-hour process.
Once he stepped out of the makeup room, he completely embodied his character. Therefore, he insisted that no one address him as Ranveer as he had put in a lot of effort to immerse himself in the role. “Why remind me that I’m Ranveer when I’ve worked so hard to leave that behind and become this character?” he exclaimed.
Currently, the actor is busy shooting for his upcoming action film Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. The star-studded cast includes Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff.
