Rajinikanth lavishes praise on Mari Selvaraj’s latest film Vaazhai, saying, “Mari Selvaraj transported us to his childhood memories.”
Rajinikanth, gearing up for the release of his film Vettaiyan this year, recently shared a special message after watching Mari Selvaraj’s Vaazhai. In a heartfelt note written in Tamil, the superstar praised the film and expressed how it deeply touched him.
Rajinikanth wrote, “I recently watched Mari Selvaraj’s Vaazhai. After a long time, a brilliant and high-quality film has emerged in Tamil cinema. Mari Selvaraj beautifully depicted his childhood memories in this movie. I was moved when I saw the climax where the protagonist searches for food and his mother cries, thinking she deprived him of rice.”
Applauding the movie and Selvaraj’s directorial skills, Rajinikanth added, “Mari Selvaraj has showcased his brilliance as a director through this creation. My heartfelt wishes and congratulations to him.”

In response, Mari Selvaraj acknowledged Rajinikanth’s kind words and posted a picture of himself with the actor. He thanked him and wrote, “I am writing this with the same dream as the boy in the film.”

Rajinikanth’s praises come at a time when he is reportedly discussing ideas for an upcoming film with Mari Selvaraj. The director confirmed their collaboration in a recent press meet.
Mari Selvaraj disclosed that Rajinikanth appreciates his movies and storytelling style, and even called to praise films like Karnan, Pariyerum Perumal, and Maamannan.
Vaazhai, Mari Selvaraj’s latest film, is a children’s drama centered around Sivanaindhan, who reluctantly works at a banana plantation. Inspired by Mari Selvaraj’s own experiences, the movie features Ponvel M., Raghul R., Kalaiyarasan, and Nikhila Vimal in lead roles, with J. Satish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, and others in supporting roles.
