Prince Harry Warns of Continued Danger in Bringing Meghan to the U.K. Amid Ongoing Tabloid Scrutiny
Prince Harry is determined not to jeopardize his family’s safety just to return to his home country.
In an ITV interview for the documentary Tabloids on Trial, which aired in the U.K. on Thursday, July 25, the Duke of Sussex expressed his concerns about the intense tabloid coverage affecting his wife’s safety if she were to go back to his country. He emphasized how dangerous it can be for his wife, stating, “All it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this negative press coverage, to act on what they have read… and whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is. These are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife to this country.”
Markle and Harry relocated to California in 2020 after stepping down from their royal roles. While Harry frequently visits his homeland, Markle has only visited the U.K. a few times since then, with her most recent trip being for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
Prince Harry’s Decision Not to Bring his Family Back to the U.K. Explained
Despite rumors of the Sussexes looking for a house in the U.K., Harry told ITV that moving his family back to his country is not feasible if their safety cannot be guaranteed while there.
He also mentioned that any comments about his family trigger a barrage of negative press, which further endangers his family’s safety.
Harry explained why he took court action against the Mirror Group Newspapers, stating that he felt pushed to his limit. He expressed his belief that he was the best person to see it through and mentioned his victory against the publisher in a privacy invasion case.

Media Scrutiny Differences Deepened the Royal Rift
Harry’s clashes with the British tabloids have also strained his relationship with his father, King Charles III, and brother Prince William. He highlighted his frustration with the royal family’s reluctance to confront the British press as a key factor in their strained relationship. He emphasized the need for collective action within the family.
While these incidents contributed to the rift, Harry acknowledged the support he received from his late grandmother, the Queen. He revealed they had multiple conversations on the matter, with the Queen encouraging him to stay firm in his beliefs.
