However, there were a few specific qualities that convinced Lala to choose this donor. “His favorite animal was a lion,” she shared. “Both the song he selected as his favorite and the poem he chose had themes related to the ocean.”
When it came to the donor’s physical appearance, the Cryobank only provided childhood photos, which Lala appreciated. “I prefer not to see adult pictures,” explained the 33-year-old. “It feels too real and personal. I’m fine with seeing them as a child, though.”
Lala wanted the donor to bear some resemblance to herself and Ocean. “I wanted to ensure there was a sense of familiarity,” she added, “because the world can be tough when you come from a typical family.”
Lala has already informed Ocean that she will soon be a big sister. “I didn’t make a big announcement,” Lala recalled. “She wanted to sit on my lap, and I told her to be careful because there’s a baby in my belly. She asked, ‘Mommy has a baby in her belly?’ I confirmed, and she eagerly wanted to see.”
