Police Officer Amazes AGT Judges With Powerful Ed Sheeran Performance

During the July 16 episode of America’s Got Talent, Virginia police officer Mervin Mayo stole the spotlight with his stunning rendition of Ed Sheeran‘s “Thinking Out Loud.” However, it was his heartwarming love story with his wife Mechelle that captured the judges’ hearts even before his audition.
Mervin credited Mechelle for motivating him to audition for AGT.
“My wife convinced me,” he shared with Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, and Howie Mandel. “I do everything with her encouragement, so here I am.”
In addition to his musical talent, Mervin’s dedication to his community as a police officer demonstrated his kind-hearted nature.
“I’ve been serving as a police officer for 19 years,” he explained. “I specialize as a school resource officer, working with at-risk youth to guide them away from the path to jail.”
During his performance, Mervin not only showcased his powerful vocals but also impressed everyone with his piano skills, serenading his wife backstage as she watched with admiration.
