The fans of Peaky Blinders have reason to rejoice as one of the beloved con and gangster series is returning to screens, this time as a film. Cillian Murphy is reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby, the legendary leader we all know from the series.
Netflix recently delighted fans by sharing an exciting post on X (formerly Twitter) about the film. The post featured an intriguing caption and two notable images.
“By order of the Peaky Blinders… Tommy Shelby is back,” read the caption on the post shared by the streamer. It also revealed that lead actor Murphy and Steven Knight are back on set, working on the production that has officially begun.
In one of the images shared on September 30, 2024, viewers could see Murphy with silver hair standing in front of a dark brick wall, hinting that the movie is set in the future.
Meanwhile, Collider reported that Tom Hardy, who played Alfie Solomons, has expressed interest in returning to the franchise.
While production is underway, plot details remain scarce. However, in an interview with Esquire, Steven Knight revealed some information about the film.
“The film, I know exactly what it’s about. And I know what two stories it’s going to tell. How the story will unfold, I don’t know,” Knight stated.
Knight also mentioned that he wants to keep the doors open for future events following the film. He added, “In series six,” they will introduce a new generation which will play a significant role in the film.
“I think it’s finding those actors that you just watch, and you think, there you go. There’s the future,” he concluded.
Reports suggest that the film will feature a stellar cast including Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, and Tim Roth alongside the star from The Dark Knight Rises.
