Pat Tillman’s mother expresses surprise at Prince Harry’s ESPY award given in honor of her son
After facing criticism, including an online petition calling for ESPN to reconsider, the network stood firm in their decision to not remove Harry from his position.
“ESPN, in partnership with the Tillman Foundation, is recognizing Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, for his contributions to The Invictus Games Foundation as it marks its 10th anniversary of using sports to promote healing among military service members and veterans worldwide,” a spokesperson for ESPN stated, as reported by The Athletic.
“While we recognize that not everyone may agree with all award recipients, The Invictus Games Foundation does valuable work, and ESPN believes it is a cause worth honoring.”
