Ozempic is no joking matter for the comedian. Handler shared that her “anti-aging doctor” prescribed her the medication without fully understanding what it was.
“I didn’t even realize I was taking it,” she admitted during the January 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy. “She told me, ‘If you ever want to lose five pounds, this is a good option.’
Although she gave the drug a try, Handler mentioned that she didn’t enjoy the way it made her feel.
“After coming back from a vacation, I injected myself with it,” she remembered. “A few days later, I had lunch with a friend who mentioned feeling nauseous because she was on Ozempic. I realized I was feeling the same way, but I attributed it to jet lag from Spain.”
Eventually, Handler decided to stop using the medication as it wasn’t necessary for her health. She even gave the remaining doses to friends.
“I’ve given about four or five of my friends injections of Ozempic, because I didn’t want to use it myself since it wasn’t appropriate,” she explained. “It’s intended for overweight individuals. When people come over to my house, I schedule appointments like, ‘I can see you at 1, I can see you at 2.’
