Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King Speak Out on Relationship Speculations
Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are being extremely honest.
After years of speculation about their relationship, the long-time best friends addressed the rumors.
“For years, people speculated about our relationship,” Oprah mentioned in an interview with Gayle and Melinda Gates on July 25. “It’s been a constant battle. There are still rumors circulating.”
Gayle also shared how the rumors have impacted their personal lives.
“I used to suggest, ‘Why don’t we do a show on this?’” Gayle added. “It’s challenging for me to date when people assume we are in a romantic relationship.”
Gayle, a mother to Kirby (38) and William Jr. (37) with former partner William Bumpus, stressed the honesty of their friendship, stating, “If we were in a romantic relationship, we would openly share it.”
Meanwhile, Oprah acknowledged that their friendship is unique.
“Perhaps people are not accustomed to seeing women with such a strong bond,” the 70-year-old said. “Our friendship thrives because Gayle takes more joy in my successes, victories, and challenges than I do myself.”
