Olympic Champion Scott Hamilton Provides Update on Health Following Third Brain Tumor Diagnosis
Scott Hamilton is feeling optimistic despite receiving a new brain tumor diagnosis.
After announcing that he will not be pursuing treatment for a pituitary tumor that had recurred for the third time, the former figure skater shared an update on his health exclusively with E! News two weeks later.
During the Gold Meets Golden event on March 9, where he received the Gold Legacy Award, Hamilton mentioned, “Everything is perfect, and as it should be.”
The Olympic gold medalist now has a more positive perspective on life following the diagnosis. He joked, “I’ve never been this old before, so I have nothing to compare it to.”
Having previously undergone surgeries in 2004 and 2010, Hamilton decided not to undergo another invasive medical procedure. Instead, he listened to his instincts and chose to focus on building his strength at home rather than pursuing chemotherapy or additional surgery.
“I didn’t know if it was physical, emotional, intellectual, or spiritual,” he explained his decision, “so I decided to address all aspects.”
