Sister-in-Law of Olympian Maggie Steffens Passes Away Following Trip to Paris
Maggie Steffen‘s family is grieving a heartbreaking loss.
The sister-in-law of the Olympic U.S. Water Polo team captain, Lulu Conner, passed away on July 23 after traveling to Paris for the Games, as confirmed by Maggie to the Associated Press. Lulu was 26 years old.
According to reports, Maggie, who married Lulu’s brother Bobby Conner in November, is still trying to understand the circumstances surrounding Lulu’s passing, which she described as a “medical emergency.”
“She was looking forward to the Olympic Games,” Maggie shared with the AP about Lulu. “Our bond is strong. She is a beacon of light. Her presence brings immense joy to everyone. She has a way of bringing people together.”
E! News has contacted Maggie’s representative and the U.S. women’s water polo team for a statement but has not received a response yet.
Despite the tragedy, Maggie, who is competing in her fourth Olympics in Paris and striving for a fourth Gold medal, finds solace in channeling her focus into the Games.
