Olympian Maggie Steffens Details Shock After Sister-in-Law’s Death

Olympian Maggie Steffens Opens Up About Shocking Loss of Sister-in-Law

Olympian Maggie Steffens is reflecting on her late sister-in-law Lulu Conner.

Tragically, Lulu passed away at the age of 26 on July 23 after a medical emergency while traveling to Paris to support Maggie at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Maggie, who is married to Lulu’s brother Bobby Conner, along with her family, are remembering Lulu and coming to terms with her loss.

“She was a go-getter, and she made everyone around her smile,” Maggie shared with People on Sept. 19. “So Bobby and I have been trying to emulate Lu every day and really focus on that. At the same time, give ourselves the space and gratitude, and kindness to try to reflect and process what’s happened because we’re still in shock.”

Expressing that the Conner family is still trying to process Lulu’s passing, Maggie emphasized, “With Lulu’s passing, we just want to honor her—her spirit, her light, her joy she brought to the world.”

The 31-year-old athlete referred to Lulu as the “little sister that I never got to have,” mentioning that their bond grew stronger after Maggie’s wedding to Bobby in November 2023.

Despite their shared grief, Maggie has found a positive aspect in her journey of mourning, stating, “We’re really lucky that we’re still here and we get to feel her every day and honor her and be together with family.”
