Olivia Munn is reaching out to other moms for help in figuring out how to properly use a baby wrap so she can carry her newborn daughter while managing the responsibilities of being a new mom. In a video shared on her Instagram on Sunday, October 6, the X-Men: Apocalypse actress, 44, showed her efforts to master the technique.
“I know I’m not doing this right, which is why I’m not letting her go,” Munn said in the video as she stood in her kitchen holding her three-week-old daughter, born on September 14 to her and husband John Mulaney, wearing a casual white T-shirt and glasses.
Having wanted to use a baby wrap since her two-year-old son Malcolm was born, Munn found the task to be challenging. She explained the purpose of the garment, which allows moms to hold their babies securely while keeping their hands free, but expressed her difficulty in figuring it out.
Munn praised moms who are successful in using wraps, describing them as “queens.” She mentioned searching YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for tutorials without much success. Describing the task as more challenging than origami, Munn sought advice from her followers.
Several fans and fellow moms shared their tips in the comments section. Some directed Munn to resources like sling/wrap libraries, while others suggested using carriers as an alternative to traditional wraps.
The American Academy of Pediatrics offers guidelines for choosing carriers, emphasizing the importance of proper support and safety. Parents are advised to ensure that their baby’s mouth and nose are not covered by fabric and to avoid using carriers for premature babies or those with respiratory issues.
Munn welcomed her daughter via a gestational surrogate last month, sharing the news on Instagram along with a photo of the family in the hospital room.
