Olivia Culpo Reveals Doctors Initially Dismissed Her Symptoms Before Endometriosis Diagnosis
Fortunately, Olivia had a strong support system throughout this challenging experience, with her now-fiancé Christian McCaffrey by her side.
She remembered how he worked tirelessly to find answers for her, saying, “Christian was reaching out to all his connections in the sports world, trying to find someone who could help me.”
It wasn’t until she met with OB/GYN Dr. Thais Aliabad, who co-hosts the podcast S.H.E. MD, that she finally received a diagnosis of endometriosis.
“After just one ultrasound,” Olivia explained, “Dr. Aliabad identified Endometrioma on my ovaries.”
Following surgery in November 2020, the 31-year-old has been able to effectively manage her symptoms.
However, she expressed her wish that it hadn’t taken so long to understand her health issues.
“The excruciating pain began and escalated as I grew older, significantly impacting my daily life to the point where I couldn’t function,” she said. “It’s a kind of pain that terrifies you because you know something is wrong, yet there seems to be no answer, and at that time, no one could pinpoint what was causing my suffering.”
