Christopher Meloni Reveals the Cute Name He Originally Wanted to Give his Pet Dog: ‘Nixed Me So Hard’
Christopher Meloni, known for his tough guy roles, has a soft spot for his family’s pets. The 63-year-old Law & Order: Organized Crime star lives with his wife Sherman Williams and their children Sophia and Dante. Over the past thirteen years, their family has grown to include a border terrier named Scotty, who was rescued.
Meloni sees Scotty as more than just a pet; he describes their bond as a special connection that touches his heart in a unique way. “It’s just – you get an interaction with another living being, animal, and it touches this heart from a different place,” he explains.
Scotty has been described as catlike and mysterious, showing affection in his own unique way. Meloni notes that while Scotty may seem aloof at times, he is very appreciative during walks and mealtime, highlighting the closeness between them.
Meloni had originally wanted to name Scotty “Biscotti,” but his family rejected the idea. Despite this, he jokes about it, saying “That’s just the way the cookie crumbles … the biscotti crumbles.”
Describing Scotty’s appearance, Meloni humorously compares him to a bassist from a 70s hair metal band or someone wearing black eyeliner, jokingly suggesting he might be putting on makeup. He laughs off the idea, emphasizing Scotty’s unique personality.
While juggling his busy schedule filming season 5 of Organized Crime, Meloni collaborated with Temptations Cat Food on a podcast series, Catch a Cat Burglar: Purry Duty, showcasing his playful side as the narrator of the story.
Despite his packed schedule, Meloni’s love for his rescue dog Scotty and enthusiasm for new projects reveal a softer, more tender side of him.
