Nawazuddin Siddiqui reveals past smoking addiction, reminisces performing Mahabharata’s dialogues repeatedly while under the influence

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been a part of the industry for more than 25 years, delivering outstanding performances. Coming from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, the actor opened up about his early struggles with addiction in a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia. He mentioned that he believed he would become the world’s best actor when under the influence.

The actor from Gangs of Wasseypur shared his experience with smoking, admitting that it became a habit he couldn’t break. Siddiqui mentioned hanging out with heavy smokers which led him to adapt the habit. Reflecting on those times, he acknowledged the thrill he experienced while high.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui made it clear that he does not endorse smoking and apologized for his past mistakes.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui would perform Mahabharat scenes when high
When asked about consuming bhaang, Siddiqui confessed to doing it several times, especially during Holi. He described feeling like the greatest actor in the world, envisioning his surroundings as a stage. Nawaz mentioned taking on different roles from Mahabharat and performing for hours.
Due to intoxication, the actor would get stuck in a loop, repeating performances all day. People would question his behavior, saying, ‘Are you crazy? You’ve been saying the same lines all day!’
On the professional front, Nawazuddin was last seen in Saindhav and will appear in the mystery thriller Rautu Ka Raaz streaming on Zee5 from June 28. He also has projects like Adbhut, Sangeen, Noorani Chehra, and Oil Kumar lined up.
