Nawazuddin Siddiqui supports Ranveer Singh’s method acting in Padmaavat, criticizes Prashant Narayanan’s comments as ‘irresponsible’
Ranveer Singh portrayed the historic character of Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 film Padmaavat, alongside Deepika Padukone & Shahid Kapoor. While his performance was highly praised, the actor admitted to delving into a dark space to authentically portray the character.
On the contrary, actor Prashant Narayanan, known for his challenging roles, accused Ranveer of lying about his method acting. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has now defended Ranveer in this controversy.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s perspective on Ranveer Singh’s approach to method acting
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Prashant Narayanan claimed that Ranveer Singh’s claims of entering a dark zone for his character were untrue. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his method acting in Bollywood, supported Ranveer in a recent interview. Without mentioning Prashant, he questioned if the actor criticizing Ranveer had witnessed the process he underwent to portray his character effectively. Siddiqui defended the actor, highlighting the importance of respecting an actor’s process and their dedication to their role.
He also criticized the comments as “irresponsible” and pointed out the dedication needed to bring complex characters to life. Drawing examples like Heath Ledger’s Joker, Nawaz emphasized the importance of drawing from personal experiences to truly embody a character.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s current projects
Nawazuddin’s latest project was ‘Haddi’, released on Zee5. He is currently promoting his new film, ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’, also available on Zee5. Directed by Anand Surapur, this mystery drama features Atul Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar, and Narayani Shastri in pivotal roles.
