Nawazuddin Siddiqui acknowledges that playing the ‘typical hero’ in films is uninspiring: ‘What does he earn, what does he do…’

Nawazuddin Siddiqui began his acting career with a cameo in Aamir Khan’s Sarfarosh in 1999. He then appeared in smaller roles in films such as Munna Bhai MBBS, Black Friday, Shool, Jungle, and more. After his breakthrough in Gangs of Wasseypur, Nawazuddin became a popular name in Bollywood. He recently expressed his belief that the portrayal of a “typical hero” in movies is uninteresting. The actor mentioned that there is no background story to his own journey in the industry.

In a recent podcast interview on The Majlis Show on YouTube, Nawazuddin Siddiqui discussed his views on the depiction of heroes in commercial films.

When asked about the entry of a hero, Nawaz commented, “To be honest, I find it all very boring. The hero will save everyone in the world and the girl will fall in love with him, whether he has any qualities or not.”

“You don’t even know what he earns or what he does,” he added.

Nawazuddin went on to say that the heroine falls for the hero because he is handsome. He explained that the girl believes he can protect her from villains and fight against multiple people.

In the same interview, Siddiqui mentioned that he enjoys portraying grey characters in films. He emphasized that such characters are not depicted as perfect but are honest and make mistakes.

The 50-year-old actor stated that he dislikes one-dimensional roles with no complexity. He pointed out that grey characters have both flaws and good qualities. Regarding “good” characters, he stated that they are not realistic and only exist in movies.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has appeared in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Raees, Thackeray, Photograph, Mom, Raman Raghav 2.0, Serious Men, and more.
