Nargis Fakhri’s Birthday: Imtiaz Ali picked her as the Rockstar actress because she was beyond ‘Ranbir Kapoor’s league’
Nargis Fakhri began her Bollywood journey alongside Ranbir Kapoor in the 2011 film, Rockstar. Portraying the character of Heer Kaul in this musical romantic drama, Nargis marked her presence in the industry. On her birthday today (October 20), let’s revisit how she landed the role. Interestingly, director Imtiaz Ali chose her for the part as she seemed out of ‘Ranbir Kapoor’s league’.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Imtiaz Ali shared insights into casting Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar. He envisioned Heer as someone who is unattainable and whom one can only dream of. Imtiaz was particularly impressed by Nargis’ elegance and performance, considering her a perfect fit for the role.
Nargis Fakhri once acknowledged that she was unfamiliar with Ranbir Kapoor before being cast in Rockstar. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, she admitted to being naive and not doing any research about her co-stars before entering the industry. Her journey in India began as an ordinary person exploring new opportunities.
In Rockstar, Nargis Fakhri portrayed the role of Heer Kaul opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s JJ (Janardhan Jakhar), a college student with musical aspirations. The film also featured Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, and the late Shammi Kapoor in significant roles.
Aside from Rockstar, Nargis Fakhri has appeared in various movies like Main Tera Hero, Housefull 3, Madras Cafe, Torbaaz, and Amavas. She has also made cameo appearances in films such as Kick and Phata Poster Nikla Hero.
Nargis is set to return to the Housefull series with her role in Sajid Nadiadwala’s upcoming production, Housefull 5, alongside Akshay Kumar. Her journey in Bollywood began unexpectedly, bringing about a significant change in her life.
