Tom Selleck Shares Emotional Details From His Last Scene on Blue Bloods
The long-running cop drama Blue Bloods on CBS has come to an end after a successful 14-season run. The final day of filming was an emotional one filled with tears and hugs after the cast had worked together for a decade and a half. Tom Selleck, who portrayed Frank Reagan on the show, shared details from the “ironic” last day of filming.
During an interview with TV Insider, Selleck mentioned that his final scene was a family dinner, which was fitting as it was the first scene they shot when the series began. He hinted that the concluding season might feature a Reagan family reunion. Despite most of the cast having more days of shooting left, Selleck decided to close the set after the family dinner scene.
After wrapping filming, Selleck recited a poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay, which left his co-stars emotional and resulted in a lot of crying and hugging. While Donnie Wahlberg was visibly upset, Bridget Moynahan and Vanessa Ray were also affected by the experience.
Fans can expect a lot of excitement in the upcoming series finale set to release in December. The final season will see Commissioner Frank Reagan continue leading the police department and managing family dinners with his father, Henry, a retired police commissioner.
Although the show is ending, there have been hints of a potential spin-off in the future. While nothing has been confirmed yet, CBS studio head David Stapf has mentioned that there’s still a chance for a spin-off, keeping fans hopeful. The midseason premiere of Blue Bloods is scheduled to air on October 18 on CBS.
