The comparison
The opening of Stree was clearly superior. The film starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao had a 59% larger Day 1 compared to Munjya. The trend continued to be strong for Stree with bigger jumps recorded. However, given that Munjya was released with less awareness, its current performance is still impressive.
Additionally, the individual trend of Munjya reflects positive word of mouth, which is likely to translate into strong box office numbers in the coming days. If things continue to go well in the next few days, reaching close to Rs 35 crore in the first week and Rs 75 crore in lifetime business seem achievable.
