Taylor Swift Reflects on 9/11 Anniversary at MTV VMAs 2024 while Post Malone Takes Home Best Collaboration and Song of Summer Trophies
The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards is currently taking place at the UBS Arena in New York. Also known as the VMAs, this annual event recognizes musicians for their outstanding contributions throughout the year. Taylor Swift is a dominant force at music awards and she entered the night with 12 nominations, already winning the Best Collaboration award for her song with Post Malone.
In her acceptance speech, Taylor Swift paid tribute to the victims of 9/11, mentioning that she had been reflecting on the events of 23 years ago. She extended her thoughts and prayers to all those who lost loved ones in the tragedy.
Swift then praised Post Malone, her collaborator on the award-winning song, highlighting his talent, versatility, and down-to-earth nature. She humorously mentioned how it took some time to get him to stop calling her “ma’am.”
Along with the Best Collaboration award, Taylor Swift and Post Malone also won the Song of the Summer accolade. Swift leads the nominations with 12 nods, followed by Malone with 11, and several other artists with multiple nominations. The ceremony is also honoring Katy Perry with the MTV Video Vanguard Award.
