Mithun Chakraborty believes in letting his kids earn their own way in Bollywood: ‘You must fight your own battles’
Mithun Chakraborty was recently honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024. Despite his own success in the industry, he believes in letting his children pave their own paths. This is why he has never sought favors from industry insiders for his four kids.
In a conversation with NDTV, the veteran actor shared his views on the notion of the entertainment industry being a ‘family business’. Mithun Chakraborty mentioned that all four of his children are involved in the film industry, but he has never used his connections to secure work for them. “I have never approached any producer or individual to help my sons get work,” the actor revealed.
The actor also talked about his sons, Namashi Chakraborty and Mimoh Chakraborty. Namashi auditioned for a role in the film Bad Boy, while Mimoh worked on the film Haunted. Mithun expressed that whether their films succeed or not, the important thing is that they gave their best to their characters. He emphasized that talent is essential, and merely being the child of a successful actor is not enough to make it in the industry.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mithun Chakraborty shared the challenges his son Namashi faced while landing his first film, Bad Boy. He acknowledged the struggles his son went through during the audition process and expressed his pride in Namashi’s perseverance and determination to succeed on his own merit.
Namashi also spoke about working with director Rajkumar Santoshi and how it was a stroke of luck to have such an experienced and talented filmmaker guiding him in his debut film. He credited destiny for the opportunity and praised Santoshi’s directing skills.
