Runner-Up of Miss Teen USA 2023 rejects title following Winner’s resignation
Stephanie Skinner is taking a different path.
Following the resignation of Miss Teen USA 2023 winner UmaSofia Srivastava, the runner-up decided not to accept the crown in her place.
“I worked so hard and made many sacrifices to achieve my goal of becoming Miss Teen USA,” Stephanie, 19, shared with People in an interview published on May 13. “Although it was a dream of mine, I will never compromise my character.”
Even though it was a tough decision, Stephanie believed that turning down the title was the right choice for her.
Stephanie’s decision to decline the title came shortly after UmaSofia, 17, announced her resignation from Miss Teen USA following the departure of Miss USA 2023 winner Noelia Voigt.
“After thoughtful consideration,” UmaSofia explained in a May 8 Instagram post, “I have chosen to resign as my personal values no longer fully align with the organization’s direction.”
