Mirzapur 3 Actress Rasika Dugal reflects on being stereotyped for emotional scenes: ‘I was so familiar with the script, I could read it backwards.’
Actress Rasika Dugal, known for her role as Beena Tripathi in Mirzapur, recently appeared in Kay Kay Menon’s web series, Shekhar Home, showcasing her versatility in both Bollywood and the OTT space. Rasika shared in a recent interview with Indian Express that she was once tired of being typecast as a crier on-screen but is now happy with the diverse roles coming her way.
Rasika recalled a time when she would often be typecast for crying scenes, with scripts featuring at least two such scenes for her. She mentioned how she could predict the crying scenes in scripts from her past projects.
When asked about the change in her roles, Rasika mentioned that a “little femme fatale” has entered her career, diversifying the type of roles she now gets. She attributed her success to the rise of OTT platforms, allowing her work to reach a wider audience.
Referring to her work in Mirzapur, Rasika pointed out how OTT platforms have given her films the exposure they deserve. In an exclusive GRWM video with Pinkvilla, she shared a fun anecdote about carrying a portable hand fan on sets, including Mirzapur.
Rasika also reminisced about a memorable moment with her Mirzapur co-star, Pankaj Tripathi, where she lent him a fan for a photo together, calling it her “fan moment” with him. Apart from Mirzapur, Rasika has appeared in various projects like Manto, Delhi Crime, Made in Heaven, A Suitable Boy, OK Computer, and more.
Her recent web series, Shekhar Home, premiered on Jio Cinema in August this year. Rasika is also known for her role in the short film, Chutney, starring Tisca Chopra and Adil Hussain.
