Viking’s Rookie Khyree Jackson, 24, Dies in Tragic Car Accident
The NFL is mourning one of their own.
Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was tragically killed in a three-vehicle crash in Upper Marlboro, Md. early on July 6. This devastating event occurred less than three months after he was selected by the team in the fourth round of the league’s 2024 draft. He was only 24 years old.
Maryland State Police released a statement stating that Jackson was riding in a Dodge Charger with his former teammates Isaiah Hazel (23) and Anthony Lytton Jr. (24), both of whom he had played with at Wise Jr. High School. Hazel had also played at Florida State and Lytton at Penn State, and Maryland and Charlotte, as reported by multiple sources.
Tragically, Jackson and Hazel, who was driving, were pronounced dead at the crash site, while Lytton passed away after being transported to a hospital, according to the police.
An initial investigation revealed that around 3 a.m., a female driver of an Infinity Q50 attempted to change lanes at high speed, resulting in a collision with the athletes’ vehicle and a Chevrolet Impala. The Charger then veered off the road and collided with several tree stumps, as detailed by the police.
