Lawyer for the Menendez Brothers Discovers Fresh Evidence in Murder Trial
Roy, a former member of Menudo, signed a declaration in 2023 regarding José’s alleged assault of the singer. Attorney Geragos commended Roy for coming forward after many years, stating that it took great courage. He emphasized the importance of this information, especially since the assault reportedly occurred in the Menendez house.
Geragos pointed out that the declaration supports the idea that José’s supposed safe haven was actually within the house’s walls.
He continued, “It corroborates what the family described as a very uncomfortable rule in the house – that the hallway was off-limits when José was with one of the boys. This was the environment in which he preyed.”
Geragos mentioned that Lyle, 56, and Erik, 53, had believed they had exhausted all legal avenues by 2005 and had accepted their life sentences. However, he remains hopeful that the new evidence could lead to their sentences being reconsidered.
