Matty Healy Discloses Disinterest in Publicly Sharing Details of his Love Life; Explains Why
Matty Healy is choosing to keep a low profile in terms of public relationships and personal information following his breakup with Taylor Swift. In a recent appearance on the Droomscroll podcast, the British singer discussed becoming a topic of conversation after Swift released an album that fans speculated might be about him.
Healy and the pop icon had a brief relationship in 2023 before Swift began dating Travis Kelce.
Reflecting on the sudden increase in attention, Healy shared, “Last year I became a much more recognized public figure for various reasons. The only reason that mattered to me was what I was creating.”
He went on to say, “Many artists become intrigued by their public image or the things that have happened outside of their art that people are aware of, and they feel the need to address it.”
While Healy had previously been open about sharing his personal life through his music and writing, he is now choosing to keep those details private.
Discussing his past romantic relationships, Healy stated, “It wouldn’t be genuine for me to make a record about the things that were said about me or my casual relationships, simply because I was famous.”

Healy emphasized, “I find that to be a predictable route to take. I’m just not interested in that approach. I always resist conforming to the norm.”
While Healy aims to keep his personal life private, Swift documented her short-lived romance with him in her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. The Grammy-winning artist detailed their relationship in tracks like Guilty as Sin?, Fresh Out the Slammer, I Can Fix Him (No, I Really Can), and Loml.
