Keith Morrison, Matthew Perry’s Stepfather, Breaks Silence Following Arrest Reports
When Perry died, it was noted in the report that although he had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, his last treatment had been over a week before his death. This meant that the small amount of medication found in his system could not have come from the therapy.
Morrison was the one who informed the authorities about Perry’s death, as indicated on the death certificate.
“Learning about Perry’s death was devastating, something you never expect but know could happen someday,” Morrison told Kotb, reflecting on his feelings of surprise. “I guess I was both surprised and not surprised.”
Morrison believed that Perry was making progress in his battle against substance abuse at the time of his death.
“He thought he was overcoming it,” Morrison mentioned about Perry’s struggles with alcohol and drugs. “But one never truly overcomes it, and he was aware of that as well.”
