During a recent interview with Galatta India, Manoj Bajpayee talked about how he styled his look for Satya, a film directed by RGV. Bajpayee mentioned that he had a budget of Rs 25,000 for costumes provided by the production.

“Back then, if you weren’t a big star, you had to manage on your own or rely on the costume department. But for Satya, I wanted to do it myself,” he said.

The 55-year-old actor, who portrayed Bhiku Mhatra in Satya, disclosed that he personally selected his character’s outfits from Hill Road in Bandra, Mumbai.

“I believed that I knew exactly what kind of clothes Bhiku Mahate would wear. So I would frequent Hill Road, looking for fabrics and prints that would suit the character,” Bajpayee added.

The Satya actor emphasized that he personally bought shirts, denims, and vests from Hill Road. “I handpicked everything,” he said.

Manoj Bajpayee is quite particular about his characters

Manoj Bajpayee mentioned that he used to pick costumes for his films early in his career and expressed his love for styling.

Discussing his approach to characters in films, Bajpayee said, “Now I have costume designers, but I am always closely involved. When I am developing a character, I also consider the clothing choices.”

He emphasized that styling involves not just design, but also fabric and fitting, stating that “each character requires a different fit.”

Manoj Bajpayee, who used to buy clothes in bulk from small shops, concluded by saying that finding the right fabric was a challenging task.
