Mallika Sherawat shares disturbing experience in South film industry: Director’s inappropriate comment “Hero will grind flour on your waist”
Mallika Sherawat, best known for her role in Murder (2004), recently made a comeback in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s new directorial venture, Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. The actress has been in the spotlight for sharing her experiences in the Indian film industry. One shocking incident she revealed was from the South, where a director suggested a hero would make rotis on her waist.
In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Mallika Sherawat shared her experience working with a filmmaker in the South industry. She mentioned shooting a song where a director asked her to showcase her hotness.
“I was shooting a song in the South. The director came up to me and said, ‘Madam, we want to show how hot you are.’ I was taken aback. He then said, ‘In this scene, the hero will make chapattis on your waist.’ Can you believe it? This was their idea of presenting a woman as hot,” the actress recalled.
Mallika declined the role, stating that it did not align with her values.
During an appearance on The Ranveer Show, she talked about the need for actors to be diplomatic to secure opportunities in the industry.
She emphasized that not being diplomatic could cost actors important projects. Mallika highlighted the importance of “chamchagiri” (flattery) in the industry but admitted that she was not comfortable with it.
The actress has appeared in various movies like Darna Zaroori Hai, Kis Kis Ki Kismat, Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam, Welcome, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Ugly Aur Pagli, Thank You, Double Dhamaal, and more.
Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video was released on October 11.
