Maharaj: Junaid Khan opens up about the nerves surrounding his debut film’s court battle
Junaid Khan, following in the footsteps of his father, actor Aamir Khan, made his Bollywood debut this year in Siddharth Malhotra’s film Maharaj. The movie faced controversy when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad objected to its release, leading to a temporary hold on the movie.
However, on June 21, the Gujarat High Court lifted the stay order on Maharaj’s release, and the movie was finally released on Netflix. In a recent interview, Junaid shared his feelings during the uncertain period leading up to his debut film.
Junaid Khan opens up about the tense court situation
Debutant Junaid Khan, who started his acting career with Maharaj, spoke with Bollywood Hungama about the challenging time when the movie faced legal issues and its release was halted.
He mentioned, “We were all a bit anxious, I think. But we had faith in the film from everyone involved and those who had seen it.” Junaid also expressed confidence in the film’s sensitive handling and the support from Yashraj and Netflix. “That support gave us courage,” he added.
Junaid Khan reveals Aamir Khan’s opinion on Maharaj
In the same interview, Junaid shared that his father, Aamir Khan, “really liked the film.” He described how his father watches movies for enjoyment and does not analyze them critically. Junaid also mentioned his current project with Aamir Khan Productions.
Alongside Junaid, Maharaj also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and a special appearance by Sharvari Wagh.
