Madeleine McCann’s Parents Still in Shock 17 Years After Her Disappearance
Madeleine McCann‘s parents are still coping with her disappearance almost twenty years ago.
Gerry and Kate McCann marked the 17th anniversary of their 3-year-old daughter’s disappearance during a 2007 vacation in Praia da Luz, Portugal. They reflected on how the tragedy has impacted their family and expressed their enduring hope of finding her.
“It’s hard to even acknowledge that number without feeling disbelief,” the couple wrote on their Find Madeleine website on May 3. “While we are fortunate in many ways and able to lead a relatively normal and enjoyable life now, living in uncertainty is still very unsettling. The absence of Madeleine still weighs heavily on us.”
“Your continued support gives us strength and motivates us to keep going,” Gerry and Kate’s statement, who also have 18-year-old twins Sean and Amelie, read. “We are grateful for the love and hope for Madeleine and the determination to find her, even after all these years.”
