No need to ask—Eminem had the audience’s full attention at Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central.
During the June 6 event, which celebrated the reopening of Michigan Central Station following a refurbishment, the rapper surprised everyone with a set that included the live debut of his new single “Houdini” and a duet of his 2003 song “Sing for the Moment” with Jelly Roll stepping in to sing the parts sampling Aerosmith‘s “Dream On.”
Backed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Eminem also reunited with fellow Detroit rapper Trick Trick to perform their 2005 single “Welcome 2 Detroit.” He closed the show with his 2010 song “Not Afraid,” which concluded with fireworks from the stage.
“Detroit, we’re out,” the Grammy winner said before exiting the stage. “We love you.”
Although Eminem was not initially listed on the show’s line-up, he played a significant role in the project as a co-executive producer with his manager Paul Rosenberg. The “Lose Yourself” rapper’s four-track mini-set was his longest performance since his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022.
