Passengers’ Final Words Log Found to be Falsified
Due to technical complexities and jurisdictional issues, a final report on the fate of the Titan may take years to complete, as explained by an official.
E! News has contacted the Marine Board of Investigation for further statements.
Many have been curious about the events leading to the demise of the Titan as it journeyed to the Titanic wreckage on June 18, resulting in the loss of all five individuals on board.
“The individuals on board were genuine adventurers who possessed a strong sense of exploration,” OceanGate confirmed in a statement released last June. “They had a deep love for exploring and preserving the world’s oceans.”
“Our thoughts go out to these five souls and their families during this tragic period,” the statement continued. “We mourn their loss and the happiness they brought to those who knew them.”
Despite the tragedy, billionaire Larry Connor and Triton Submarines co-founder Patrick Lahey are currently working on a new vessel to explore the Titanic wreckage.
“The incident had a negative impact on public interest in these vehicles,” Lahey told The Wall Street Journal in May. “It revived old misconceptions that only daredevils would dare to dive in such vehicles.”
Therefore, Lahey was surprised when Connor approached him about a new project.
“We had a client, a remarkable individual,” Connor recalled. “He contacted me and suggested building a submersible capable of reaching Titanic depths safely and repeatedly, to show the world that our technology is reliable, unlike the Titan.”
